This calculator runs in the opposite direction from the price-per-pound tool. Here, the unit price is already known. The unknown is the total cost for a chosen weight.
total cost = price per pound × total pounds
Choose “Purchasable weight” when the total cost is known instead. That mode divides the available total by the price per pound and reports decimal pounds plus pounds and ounces.
purchasable pounds = total cost ÷ price per pound
Worked example
At US$4.50 per lb, a quantity of 3 lb 8 oz equals 3.5 lb and costs:
US$4.50 × 3.5 lb = US$15.75
